Aug 7. and San Francisco are exempted from Quarantine inspection.
Aug 8. Luis J. Joy resigned as acting laborer.
“9. James W. Erickson. 35. nativity Denmark nominated as attendant, acting laborer vice joy resigned Aug. 8.
“11. M.O.C in town to confer with the Superintendent of Construction relative to construction of new Steerage Barracks and Mess Hall. Letter written to Bureau protesting against the proposed location of the buildings.
“12. Weekly Inspection. Fire Drill. During the week the doors of the Wharf Shed were repaired and work continued clearing fresh water tanks. Bulkhead between 8 and 13 completed.
“14. Heavy showers last night. Deer broke through the orchard fence, first time in a week, in attempting to get out, he made a bad jump over the fence and left considerable hair in the barbed wire.
“15. Attendant Alex J. Hansen resigned today.
Aug. 16. Left Station 9:30 A.M. on Argonaut and boarded Jap. s/s Zeugo Maru from the Orient via the Japan ports. Personnel and papers O.K. I and P.
“17. Alexander Hagberg 47. Nat. Sweden nominated as attendant acting laborer vice Axel Hansend resigned Aug 15.
“17. Pilot Schulz returns from leave.

Bids and Proposals
San Francisco Quarantine Station. Angel Island Ca. August 17, 1916– Sealed proposals will be received at this office until 8 o’clock p. m. on the 16th day of September, 1916 and then opened, for the purchase from the Treasury Department of the Steamer “George M. Sternberg,” with certain equipment thereon, in accordance with particulars which may be had from the undersigned. The sale will be subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Treasury as to the reasonableness of the bid. The Government reserves the right to reject any or all bids. W. A. “19. Chief Engineer Krohn granted 16 days leave of absence.
“19. Weekly Inspection.
During the week grate in Furnace and doorbell no. 2. repaired. Small cupboard build in the pantry. Fence Repaired.
Rollers of large door Disinfecting Shed put in working order. Work continued on bulkhead in front of no. 8. also stone hauled from beach in the scow for the wall.
